Adobe indesign

Today i learnt how to use adobe indesign. I learnt about how to make a text box and make a two page spread. We looked at a front cover of another magazine and had to copy it exactly using adobe indesign. We also looked at past student examples of their work of indesign.

Representation

I also learned about semiotic that it is the science of signs. Representation is a person who represents a certain media. All media has been mediated and therefore it can be unbiased. I also learned about iconic representation that the word CAT is a code and that we make sense of it. Symbolic representation is a drawing of a cat but we see it as a cat but it is actually a cartoon of a cat.

Denotation and Connotation

Today I learned about denotation and connotation . I know that denototation means an objective description of a sign. I also know that connotation means what meaning the sign has for us and that everyone has their own opinion. We also learned about a woman who was naked and what her connotation and her denotation was that she had red hair, a slim body, pale skin and was naked. Her connotation was she was a sexual human being representing orgasm for a perfume advertisement.
